About Us

Jason Chong

Director

Over my 20 year career, I’ve managed to gather a lot of unique experiences that I’d love to bring to your production.

I’ve run and worked for production companies in Adelaide and Melbourne, shooting and editing feature films, TV series, live events, and web content.

From 2015-2017 I was the Broadcast and Digital Manager for Adelaide’s community TV station Channel 44 where I revived C44’s local production capabilities – including adding live streaming capabilities which has become a major source of income for the station.  I love to return when I can to direct productions and teach the wonderful volunteers.

Before founding 1UP Digital, I was the director of Dribble Enterprises, which produced live DVDs for the Australian comedy industry including Jeff Green, George Kapiniaris, Mickey D and Greg Fleet.

I have also taught editing at the Media Arts Production Skills course at Hamilton College (where I got my start in the industry) and the Media Resource Centre, which has been invaluable to my career.

I am also a professional comedian, and have been seen on ‘The Project’ (Ch 10), ‘The Morning Show’ (Ch 9) and “Stand UP At Bella Union” (SBS) and have been heard on radio on Nova, SAFM, Mix1023.  I currently co-host the weekly segment “Pundemonium” on ABC Drive with Jules Schiller.

Teaching and my experience on stage have allowed me to develop great communication and people skills, which I can use to make the process of producing videos – which can seem daunting at first – a fun and rewarding experience.

I’m a comedian and video producer (depending on if you’re laughing or not)

I’d love to chat about how we can be creative together!

Cheers,

Jas

My passion for video production and comedy led me to spend all of 2019 creating TV pilots with a project called “The Black Box Experiment”.

The idea is to work with an Adelaide creative for 1 month of shows, developing an idea over that month in front of a live audience and filming the final show as the TV pilot.  The end goal is to bring TV production (especially studio based entertainment shows) back to Adelaide, where we have enormous talent in front and behind the camera, before they have to go east to advance their career.

The shows are now being pitched to networks and broadcasters.

In 6 months of trail-by-fire we made 8 pilots for 5 shows, which you can find out more about below.
